| | John E. Leonard, Ph.D. is the IRH Director of Behavioral Medicine Services. John is a licensed California psychologist whose doctoral work included research in models and methods of psychotherapy and psychotherapy supervision. In addition to his work as a licensed California psychologist he holds certification as a Licensed Educational Psychologist and has been licensed as a Marriage family therapist. He also holds a California Life Credential in educational psychometry.
John has worked in behavioral medicine centers where he has trained and supervised psychology interns and mind-body practitioners since 1990. In addition to his Director role at IRH He consults for multidisciplinary health and wellness centers in the Northwest and Midwest in team and program development . | |

| | John is the author and developer of The NeuroBehavioral Pain Program, a unique mind-body pain program used here at the Institute. His revolutionary pain work has been profiled in several national magazines, on PBS the BBC and South American Discovery Channels. He is also the author of the My TrueBody Program, a weight management system that controls food perception and appetite using mind-body processes being offered in the women's health programs. John is also the author of the e-zine, The Insider's Guide to Mind-body Medicine. His current research interests include applications of his mind-body programs to relieving trauma and it's impact on health and wellness. "I have been extremely fortunate to have been taught so many things by the patients I have been invited to serve. If we listen carefully enough to our minds and bodies we can access and control the natural healing patterns in our bodymind. I have a profound gratitude and respect for the suffering patients who have come into my care who have cooperatively helped develop this growing body of work."
