| | Lee Ockenden, MFT, is the Assistant Director of Behavioral Medicine Services at IRH. Lee studied transpersonal and holistic psychology at Sonoma State University, then moved to southern California where he obtained his Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1996 at Hope International University. | | Lee took a special interest in how traumatic experience, both acute and chronic, affected people physiologically and emotionally. He pursued the most progressive trainings and seminars at the time for resolving trauma (PTSD), panic/anxiety and phobias and began to specialize in working with individuals affected by unresolved traumas and losses from their past. In 2001, Lee started a private practice in Vacaville while providing psychological services for Solano Adult Mental Health. In 2003, Lee met John Leonard, Ph.D., developer and creator of Neurobehavioral programs, and became trained as an NBP (NeuroBehavioral Pain Management) Practitioner. Having worked extensively with issues related to trauma, grief and loss issues, Lee came to the connection between mental, physical and spiritual well-being. He has taught clients for years now how to manage somatic symptoms by simple and practical methods. Blending a clinical/behavioral approach with the knowledge of mind/body healing, Lee is able to support and progress people on their quest for optimal physical and emotional health. In addition to providing behavioral medicine at IRH, Lee maintains his private practice in Davis where he, his wife Beth and their young son Nathan live and enjoy anything to do with peddles and paddles in the great outdoors. "The body's natural intention is to heal itself. The body's greatest ally is the mind. Attaining wholeness of the mind is integral to allowing healing to occur. The greater the mental or emotional barriers, the greater the level of freedom is enjoyed in its absence. My privilege is to assist in this process with integrity and respect."
