Dear Institute for Restorative Health (IRH):

As one of the many Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and Arthritis patients at the Institute for Restorative Health, I want to express my appreciation for everything you have done for me in the last few months. Thanks to the physicians, therapists, medical professionals and all other office staff for their compassion, caring manner, guidance, and help with important and relevant information and for giving me hope for feeling better.  

After 2 years of daily 24 hour pain, chronic sleepless nights, incapacitating fatigue, medication reactions, emotional frustration and feeling completely overwhelmed, I finally found a place that offers an array of resources in one office and an interest in helping me improve my health. With some pretty drastic life style changes, chiropractic manipulation, warm water therapy (across the hall at Physical Edge), moist heat therapy, icing, massage, acupuncture, fewer prescription medications, appropriate supplements, tests, exercise, X-rays, naturopathy and neurological exams, I am now starting to feel 15% better after two months of treatment. That may not seem like much but for a person with Fibromyalgia and CTS, it's huge. Of course, it does not come easy. The medication questions, the 2 week detoxification, 15-day diet, supplement trials and regulation, future diet instructions, walking, yoga, water therapy, and realizing I have more limitations that other women my age has been difficult. But I wouldn't change a thing!  I feel that if anyone can help me reach my goal of 40% better than I have been, it would be IRH.  40% would give me some of my life back and certainly offer me that chance of increased quality of life to share with my husband, who is a saint, my daughter, grandchildren and friends.  
Eric Hassid, MD: One of the greatest innovative, forward thinking physicians in the area.  He is up-to-date and acutely aware of patients with chronic pain who clearly need help as much as positive information, guidance and hope as possible.  I have not been able to get relief from the 24 hour pain and fatigue I have daily.  He came up with the idea of the Institute because it gave people a chance to try complimentary and alternative methods (CAM), which indeed compliments western medicine.  IRH is a one-stop, non-shop office.  Instead of going to 7 different doctors and modality locations, it's all here.  I feel he is one of the few advocates on my side and works hard to make sure that a complete, relevant history and physical is taken, a complete exam is done, which is most helpful for validating and diagnosing an illness.
Marco Vespignani ND:  An expert in natural medication, detoxification and pain management.  He is incredible, knowledgeable, compassionate, and honestly interested in the well being of his patients.  I trust in him completely to advise me on supplements, test result, and eating and diet instructions.  He listens to my many seemingly endless questions, without making me feel rushed, and answers all of them.  He also looks through all my medications and supplements for comments and/or suggestions.
Dennis Vo, DC:  The first chiropractor of four who doesn't hurt me with adjustments.  He tells me what he does before he does it, relaxes me and helps me with understanding my arthritis.  He has truly helped me with my pain, muscle tension and spasms, stress, neck tension, swollen trigger points or "hot spots."  He is gentle, yet effective.
Rasa Sammy, LAc:  Efficient, methodical, informative, patient, and understanding.  She always checks to make sure I am comfortable.  She is a genuine medical professional who is very appreciative of the pain and discomfort from my sore body.  Sometimes I don't even know how much pain I have or where it is until being touched in a remote spot.  Rasa is very gentle and may times, I cannot feel the needles being inserted.  I was pleasantly surprised and glad I am participating in acupuncture.
Marisol - Medical Assistant: Very sweet, consistent, nice and almost always on time to call me back to see the medical providers.  I have been in the office as many times as 5 days in a row with more than one treatment.  Even though it's a busy office, I never feel rushed.  
Mike - Medical Assistant:  Very calming, nice and usually the one who calls at home to remind me of every one of my appointments.  He is kind of like a big teddy bear.  He is always up beat and seems happy to be working at IRH.  He is funny and takes time to make me feel comfortable, especially on hard days.  
Jamie and Tiffany - Receptionists:  They are excellent front office staff, always pleasant, welcoming and accommodating. They seem to appreciate how most of their clientele feel and know most have good days and bad.  They are patient with my cognitive issues, which is really appreciated when I am having a bad day.  Multi-tasking is overwhelming at times and they seem to read my mind and provide me with whatever I need.  Jamie takes a special interest in helping me stay focused and helps me get through the appointment and cost issues.  Currently I pay out of pocket for all my visits and she is always considerate of that fact.  She also makes sure I get my medical notes so I can "deal" with my disability insurance company.
Like many of the patients who finally arrive at IRH, we are frustrated, determined, and desperate NOT to let our illnesses overcome our lives.  We are not willing to give up and accept our fate without a fight to get better. We are not usually looking for a "cure," we are simply looking to feel enough improvement or gain control to bring back some quality of life.  I have a wonderful family practitioner who was always helpful and supportive of my medical issues, however, I felt I had to do something else.  I had not had much luck with the orthopedic physician or the two rhumatologists I was referred to.

I cannot thank you enough for all you do for me and will continue to do to help me get my illness under some control so that I can gain a better quality of life.

Doctors and medical care is expensive!  The time it takes to be and stay well is endless! IRH is priceless!

I just want to send a quick email to thank you for being my doctor.  I finally feel like I have a doctor who cares.  You are a good listener, compassionate, extremely intelligent, open-minded, very professional, and willing to go the extra mile for your patients.  I feel blessed to have found you! It gives me comfort knowing I can come to you with anything during this difficult time in my life.

I also want to thank you for going the extra mile in your effort to have chelation approved by my insurance.  It worked!  I hope to see you next week when I am starting chelation.
